My 5 golden rules for wearing tights every day
After countless tights mishaps, I've finally found the perfect routine:
1. The denier number makes the difference
For cold winter days, I swear by opaque tights with a high denier rating – at least 80 denier. My secret.
2. The right size is crucial.
Especially important for all curvy ladies: Opaque black tights in plus sizes should always be bought one size larger than usual. The gusset should fit loosely, not pull! A fit that's too tight leads to runs and discomfort. I always measure hip circumference AND leg length – both measurements must be correct.
3. Run prevention like the pros
My experience with opaque tights that don't run has shown me: hand cream is your best friend! Before putting them on, I rub my hands with oil-free cream – this prevents rough patches from damaging the fibers. Also: always roll up tights from the toe and pull them up slowly, never tug!

During both of my pregnancies , opaque maternity tights were a comfortable and constant companion. Here are my experiences:
- A high waistband is essential: Regular pantyhose dig in and slip down. Special maternity pantyhose have an extra-soft, high waistband.

- Material check: The tights should contain at least 5% elastane so that they grow with the child.

- Hand washing is invaluable: lukewarm water, mild shampoo (yes, really!), gently squeeze, do not wring.
- Machine wash trick: Use a laundry bag + delicate cycle at 30 degrees + no fabric softener!
- Dry like a pro: Spread out on a towel, roll it up, gently squeeze out the excess water, then dry lying down.
- Storage: Individually in freezer bags – this prevents snagging from other laundry items.
